Soolai Well / Kuparama vatika

BRIEF HISTORY:It is a large stepped well, known as Soolai Bhavi, which is mentioned as Malige/Kuparama (meaning well-cum-rest house) in an inscription. It is a stone built two-storeyed well of the Vijayanagara period dated A.D. 1405. A flight of steps leads down to the water. It is in the shape of an octagon with wide four-centred arches, arched squinches at the corners and a few basĀ¬reliefs. This well is square on plan at the bottom.
