Octagonal Bath

BRIEF HISTORY: The large and deep octagonal bath with an open pillared corridor all round has a moulded octagonal basin (2.4 m deep in the centre. In the middle of the basin, there is a moulded octagonal platform. Both the basin and platform are stone lined. The pillared corridors surrounding it consist of two rows of pillars, each having 24 pillars.

The low wall between the regularly spaced in outer pillars are modern and there is a flight of steps leading down to the corridor in the south-west direction. The pillared corridor has patches of plaster and plastered concrete floor. The moulded wall of the basin has an offset in the middle with deep-water channel lined with plaster. There are small circular holes (about 5 cm in diameter) opening into the channel at each corner to feed water into the basin.
